Karuah champion Joey Trinkler, fishing with his dad George, target everything from a tadpole to a tuna.
On their latest trip north of Broughton Island the boys returned with a mighty catch of mulloway, super snapper, green eyed squid and pearl perch to 2kg.
Growing to a thumping 70cm, "pearlies" are more common in waters north of Seal Rocks however in more recent times reports suggest that they are moving further south.
As a table fish there are none better.
I've just returned from a visit to Broughton Island where the fishing was fantastic with cracker snapper in every wash around the island.
In a southerly wind I target Cod Rock in around 50ft of water over a rough bottom.
Anchor and berley heavily before tossing out an unweighted bait of slimy mackerel, squid or big prawn.
Odd as it may seem the best snapper I have caught over the past fortnight has been on a yellowtail head on a 6/0.
Toss to the back of the berley trail and - hang on!
In a south wind I head for North Rock and fish in the white water using the same method.
Good luck.
